Hi my dear Buzztrippers! It’s time to travel back to my beloved Friuli-Venezia Giulia! This time, I am leading you to a destination I did not expect to appreciate sooo much. I am a super-lazy person and a scaredy-cat, therefore I did not think that an adventure park in the heart of Dolomites could be so amusing for me. But I completely changed my mind: I spent a day there in August and I had fun, got over my fear and experienced a whole day outdoor. Where? In the Dolomiti Adventure Park!!!
Dolomites for all ages
The Dolomiti Adventure Park is located in the quaint village of Forni di Sopra (Udine province) and is surrounded by breathtaking Dolomites’ mountaintops. Easily reachable, it lies deep in a forest composed by high pine-trees. First of all, do not be scared of the height, the helmet, the snap-hooks, the harness: you will find some nice, playful instructors that will clearly explain how everything works. Listen carefully and ask them to repeat if you do not understand immediately: they will patiently dispel any of your doubts and assist you during the whole experience. After a preliminary explanatory session with them, start climbing trees!! Suspended platforms connected by rope bridges are waiting for you!
You will be able to choose among several routes, classified according to their complexity level. Three of them are suitable for children of different ages, whereas the others are specifically designed for adults. Here you find a short description of the latter:
Green Path: easy, perfect to begin your adventure on the trees. Learn how to use the snap-hooks and jump on your first zip-line.
Blue Path: medium, suspended at 8 meters above the ground. At some points you will deeply feel the adrenaline rush through your veins… focus along the path, then relax and enjoy the long zip-line at the end!
Red Path: difficult, suspended at 10 meters above the ground. Choose this path if you look for a real, outstanding thrill!
Violet Path: difficult, with three long zip-lines. Ready to fly through the trees?
Black Path: really demanding, it is suitable only for those who show remarkable physical skills and a deep mental focus.
Powerfan: for lionhearted players, this is a platform at 15 meters above the ground, where to jump off from. Your fall will slow down progressively thanks to an ingenious mechanical system.
I personally got through the Green and the Blue Path (total cost: 15,00 €) … but I promise, I am soon coming back to try the Red One as well!
Tasty Dolomites: Lunch with a View
After all this effort, it’s time for a break! Just in front of the Adventure Park, take the chairlift up to Clap Varmost, a mountain that will literally mezmerize you with its breathtaking landscapes. Choose one of the three rifugi (mountain lodges close to ski trails) located in this area, and enjoy a simple lunch based on typical, mouth-watering products. I personally opted for La Suita, located in a fairytale spot, overlooking an alpine tiny lake at 1550 meters above sea level. There, I could enjoy some delicious canederli (local home-made dumplings) and listen to the relaxing sound of silence among the mountaintops.
